Our story
More than 25 years ago, my sister and I were looking for a Christmas gift for our father. We needed something original, something he didn’t have, and something that was a sure-fire hit. Our grandmother, Martha Lula Steele Wells was renowned in her Decatur, GA neighborhood for making the best caramels around. We reached out to our father’s twin sister for the recipe, and made our first batch of caramels in 1995.
Hundreds of batches later and after trying numerous variations, I created Steele Caramels to bring delicious, handmade caramels to a wider audience.
